About Dieter & Joy Photography
Here you can find out a little about Dieter and Joy Photography which has started of as DJ's Photo Studio in 2007. Before I go further let me explain what DJ stands for. It goes back quite a bit when I was skippering one of the tour boats here in Malta. There you are not only skipper, you got to entertain the guest, take care of the crew, repair what ever brakes and if there is some time left you got to drive the boat too. Skippering a party boat you are also responsible for the music, meaning you are even a DJ. Coming to the point, Dieter, yeah, that's my name, the Maltese couldn't pronounce. DJ, that's what they made of it.
A little later than, when we, my wife and I decided to start a little business so nearby we couldn't think of a better name. DJ now is standing simple for Dieter and Joy..... Since we got so many mails and hits asking for a DJ, we had to rename the whole site to Dieter and Joy Photography.
About D
That´s me, a 47-year-old captain, a diving instructor and a amateur
photographer. All my life I loved the sea and began diving and sailing.
At some stage I had to decide and went to the boats, skippering all sort of
boats from 12 ft sailing dinghies up to 70 ft off shore tugs. But I never
stayed out of the water, kept on diving whenever I had the chance.
Being on boats around the world you see a lot and get a lot to take a photo of.
It all started of with just keeping a memory of things and I never thought of
making my photos public or even selling them until some friends of mine got me
the idea. Everything just started out fine when in 2005 my little yacht
including most of the equipment on board got damaged beyond repairs. Cameras,
computer, hard drives, back up copies and tones of paper photographs where gone.
In the near future, I might even get some cash for the boat but all the rest
is gone.
I got a new camera now and have dedicated my activities to Malta for a while, starting
over again with building up a collection of everything Maltese above and below water.
About J
J is my wife Ratchanee bat that´s a little difficult for quite a lot of people to pronounce so she used to call herself Joy. She is very gifted in crochet design and comes up with lots of good ideas. Some of the photos are made only cause of her sense for beauty.
